The Courtroom Deputy serves as the primary liaison to an assigned judge within a divisional office and is responsible for managing the judge’s calendar. This position operates within a team-based environment and provides backup support to other judges within the assigned division and to other divisions throughout the district, as needed. The Courtroom Deputy manages the judge’s cases by calendaring and monitoring case progress, tracking the filing of pertinent documents, and ensuring timely responses to judicial orders. Additional responsibilities include scheduling hearings, trials, and conferences; making summary entries of documents and proceedings; closing cases; and preparing and transmitting notices, judgments, and orders. The incumbent also processes, sorts, and routes documents; examines bankruptcy filings for compliance with Local Rules and the Bankruptcy Code; and serves as a resource to both internal and external customers by responding to case-specific inquiries through the Court’s Call Center, email, phone, and online chat. The Courtroom Deputy is required to operate court recording and video conferencing equipment, supports and coordinates in-person and remote hearings, meetings, and webinars, and assists with labeling and controlling hearing data and preparing written transcript requests. The position also provides backup support to Case Initiation and Operations Support and performs other duties as assigned. Extensive interaction with the assigned judge is required.
