General Order 21-03 Reopening Intake Areas in All Divisions

On March 19, 2021, Chief Judge Maureen A. Tighe issued General Order 21-03 In Re: COVID-19 Public Emergency – Reopening of All Intake Areas in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to more closely align with District Court operations in light of the United States District Court Notice from the Clerk In Re: Phased Reopening of the Court, entered on March 19, 2021, which reopened Courthouses in the Central District of California to the public, subject to posted restrictions.

Effective Monday, March 22, 2021, the Intake areas of the Los Angeles, Riverside, Santa Ana, San Fernando Valley, and Northern Divisions will reopen to the public to accept in-person filings. Individuals filing bankruptcy without an attorney may also file by mail or through the Court’s Electronic Self-Representation (eSR) module. Please refer to Amended General Order 20-06 for specific filing requirements.

Judges will continue to hear matters remotely through telephonic or by video service. Previously issued guidance regarding signatures and filing fees, Social Security Number Statements, mediations, and judges’ or courtesy copies, remains in place.
