Commitment

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. The Court strives to celebrate the diversity of our workforce, ensure equity in our practices and processes, and foster an inclusive working environment where all employees can thrive. Additionally, we seek to build a work environment that leverages our strategic values: respect, integrity, diversity, exceptional service, innovation, collaboration, and education.

The Court Adopts the Following Definitions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

  • Diversity is the encompassing of a broad range of human experiences, backgrounds, and identities that inform our skills, talents, perspectives, and approaches.
  • Equity is the fair treatment of everyone that ensures equal access to opportunities, as well as the tools and institutional support to best utilize their skills and talents to engage in meaningful work and pursue advancement opportunities. Equity promotes justice, fairness, and impartiality within the processes, procedures, and distribution of resources by systems or institutions and works to identify and remove barriers that have prevented some groups from participating.
  • Inclusion means building a work environment where everyone is invited and feels welcomed to actively contribute and participate. Inclusion embraces differences and promotes mutual respect and understanding. An inclusive work environment aims to remove barriers and intolerance and instead support a sense of community and belonging in the workplace where all employees feel their thoughts and ideas are seen, heard, and valued.

The goal of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace is to ensure that everyone knows they have something of value to contribute. Together, diversity, equity, and inclusion foster feelings of community and belonging among employees.
