On April 22, 2011, Sandra R. Klein will become the district’s newest bankruptcy judge and will occupy chambers at the Los Angeles Division. On May 2, 2011, Judge Alan M. Ahart will relocate to the San Fernando Valley. He will begin receiving San Fernando Valley Division chapter 13 case assignments on April 23, 2011, and other San Fernando Valley Division chapter case assignments beginning May 2, 2011.

Also on May 2, 2011, bankruptcy cases and related adversary proceedings assigned to Judge Alan M. Ahart, Judge Ellen Carroll and Judge Victoria S. Kaufman will be reassigned as follows:
 

Case Numbers Must Have Successor Judges’ Initials
The initials following the bankruptcy cases and adversary proceeding numbers of the reassigned bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings will be changed to those of the successor judge: “AA” for Judge Alan M. Ahart; “EC” for Judge Ellen Carroll; “TD” for Judge Thomas B. Donovan; and “SK” for Judge Sandra R. Klein. Bankruptcy case and adversary proceeding numbers for pleadings filed in these cases must include the successor judges’ initials.

Judge Ahart Cases Transferred to San Fernando Valley Division
In addition, please note that Judge Ahart’s Los Angeles Division bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings listed on Exhibit A (attached) will be retained by Judge Ahart but transferred to the San Fernando Valley Division and assigned new San Fernando Valley Division case numbers. All parties in these matters will be sent notices with the new case numbers. Papers filed in Judge Ahart’s San Fernando Valley Division cases must be filed either electronically or, for filers who are not registered to use CM/ECF, at the Intake Section of the San Fernando Valley Division. All judge’s copies for Judge Ahart must be served at his San Fernando Valley Division chambers, room 342.

Requirement to Reschedule Hearings for Cases Transferred to Judge Ellen Carroll
If you have a hearing scheduled on or after May 2, 2011 on Judge Ahart's calendar in one of the cases that will be transferred to Judge Ellen Carroll on May 2, 2011, you must reschedule the hearing to a date on Judge Ellen Carroll's calendar. Therefore, on or after May 2, 2011, (i) if the matter is one that Judge Ellen Carroll allows to be self-calendared, please self-calendar a new hearing date and then provide all necessary parties with at least a 21-day notice of the new hearing date, or (ii) if the matter is one that may not be self-calendared on Judge Ellen Carroll's calendar, please contact Mary Bakchellian at (213) 894-3385 or Sharon Sumlin at (213) 894-4085 for a new hearing date and then provide all necessary parties with at least a 21-day notice of the new hearing date.
