On August 11, 2014, PACER discontinued access to Los Angeles Division only cases closed prior to February 1, 2001.  However, none of the data was destroyed, and the public can obtain the same information through the court’s toll-free Call Center at 855-460-9641 or via online chat.   All cases closed on or after February 1, 2001 are still available on PACER, as are many earlier case records from divisions other than Los Angeles.

For Los Angeles cases closed prior to February 1, 2001, the court's Call Center can provide the same basic information that previously was available on PACER. This information, from the docket cover sheet, includes debtor name, address, attorney of record, case number, case opening date, case closed date, disposition (e.g., dismissed or discharged), trustee, etc. This basic information for a specific case can be given over the phone or via online chat at no cost.  Inquiries for these older cases are infrequent and most requests, such as for a prior case number for a new bankruptcy filing, can be handled in a few minutes.
