PROCEDURES REGARDING TELEPHONIC APPEARANCES
BEFORE THE HONORABLE SANDRA R. KLEIN
Telephonic appearances will be allowed in matters before Judge Sandra R. Klein in Courtroom 1575, except as follows:
All self-represented parties and all counsel must adhere to the following procedures and rules to appear telephonically:
1. Standard Procedure
Telephonic appearances may be arranged by calling Court Call, (888-882-6878) an independent conference call company, by 2:00 p.m. the day before the hearing.
2. Emergency Procedure
The following rules apply for a telephonic appearance:
a. Parties appearing telephonically must use a landline with a handset or a headset.
b. Parties appearing telephonically may not:
i. Use a cellular phone.
ii. Use a speakerphone.
iii. Participate from any location with significant ambient noise.

TERM LAW CLERK – Position currently filled
Qualifications: Applicants should have an excellent academic record, demonstrate exceptional research and writing skills, and have a strong work ethic. Priority will be given to students who have a demonstrated interest in bankruptcy practice – such as registration in, or completion of, a bankruptcy, restructuring or debtor/creditor class in law school; experience as an extern for a bankruptcy practitioner; or in a practice area related to the bankruptcy field.
General Job Description: Primary responsibilities for externs include extensive legal research and writing on a broad range of issues. Externs will prepare bench memoranda on a variety of substantive bankruptcy issues and will be provided with the opportunity to observe hearings and trials. In addition to working on core bankruptcy concepts, externs will assist with matters dealing with secured transactions, real property law, family law, evidence, and federal practice and procedure. Knowledge of bankruptcy and commercial law are helpful, but there are no prerequisites. Externships will be part-time (approximately 24 hours) during the school year and full-time during the summer.

TERM LAW CLERK
Qualifications: The applicant must be a law school graduate as of August 1, 2017. Substantial research and writing experience is required. Applicants preferably are in the top 10% of their class. Law journal experience is a plus. Candidate’s coursework should reflect a foundation for practicing bankruptcy and corporate restructuring.
General Job Description: Law clerk duties include the following: conducting legal research, preparing bench memos, drafting orders and opinions, editing and proofreading the Judge’s orders and opinions, verifying citations, consulting with the Judge and members of staff on legal matters affecting the administration of bankruptcy laws, and other duties as prescribed by the Judge.
